July 14, 2010 – New City

Very thrilled here that EA got the Create a World tool working with Ambitions.  I was almost convinced that I wasn’t going to ever get to create my own world…

Anyway, I spent the last three days or so working almost non-stop on New City.  I have plenty of time on my hands at the moment since I am recovering from surgery, so when I say I have been working non-stop on this, I am not exaggerating.  We are talking 10 to 12 hours a day here so I hope that at least one person likes it ;0).

I am not coming down on anyone here, everyone has their own way of doing things and I also realize that The Exchange will only let you upload certain things but most of the worlds that I have downloaded seem a bit incomplete.  You end up getting a very bare bones world complete with basic terrain and a handful of community buildings and a lot of empty lots and you are left to your own devices to “finish” the world.  The upside to these kind of worlds is that it probably takes a lot less time than I spent to create New City.

What I have provided with New City is custom terrain, community lots, community decorations, item spawners, and custom* lots.  There are a few empty lots for you to build on as well as plenty of room for you to add your own lots to do your own thing with.

*A note on custom content:  Some of the content is mine and some of it belongs to other people.  I don’t like to step on toes but I can’t remember where I have downloaded everything from.  There are many talented creators out there who are much more talented than I am and custom content is always so much better than the default items you get with the game.  I have NOT used any pay content.  I am providing a list of where I download content from in lieu of being able to give everyone individual credit.  Everyone should check out these sites if they don’t all ready!  As I said, I can’t remember where I download most of the individual items from so this is the best I can do.  If someone recognizes their content, leave a note for me in the comments where I know, and where the site visitors know.
